Celebration of the XVII Doha Forum held in Qatar

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, the XVII Doha Forum was organized in Doha from 14 to 15 May under the title “Development, Stability and Refugee affairs”, a forum organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, with the participation of more than 600 personalities, politicians and intellectuals from various countries.
The XVII Doha Forum focuses on the current political changes in the international level and challenges of economic development, investment and oil and gas issues and the political and economic role of refugees as well as legal rights, human rights and the humanitarian dimension to address these problems, there for a number of sessions have been hold dealing with issues related to education, health, humanitarian, legal and refugee rights and security.
His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, presided over the opening of the forum, where he gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of a political solution to achieve justice for the Syrian people, and also ensured his Highness that the crisis in the world is the result of regional conflicts and racial wars, and that asylum is not one of the causes of terrorism promoted by some, in that sense it has called to address the causes of terrorism.
At the end of his speech, His Highness stressed that "there is no development without stability, and there is no stability without development", demanding the application of development for good governance and equality and non-exclusion.
During the two days of this forum the participants discussed the implications of recent political events witnessed in the world such as the victory of the United States President Donald Trump and the departure of Britain from the European Union and other economic issues and also the future of international trade and investment agreements.
Participants during the forum held five plenary sessions that revolved around the transformation of the world political scene, the challenges of economic development and investment in the stage of global changes "Oil and Energy Affairs."
The Doha forum is organized every year by the Permanent Committee for Organizing Conferences and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as one of the leading international forums in the field of contemporary international relations, of great value and remarkable importance during the previous sessions and since its first edition, in view of what it addresses as the reform and adoption of development as a basis for political and social security, and in particular human development.
