Travel tips

Tourism in the Dominican Republic

  • Santo Domingo: The capital of the Dominican Republic is considered the oldest city in the New World, where there is the historic colonial city (Zona Colonial) one of UNESCO World Heritage sites, the most important locations where Cathedral Church is the oldest church in the Americas. Also you may find Christopher Columbus home.

  • Eastern National Park: One of the sites of the World UNESCO Heritage is the main habitat for hundreds of species of plants, animals, and birds. It is one of the largest marine parks in the Caribbean and there is where the great coral reefs and where is also available scuba diving.

  • Punta Cana: Located on the eastern side of the country and is considered one of the most favorite destinations for tourism in the Caribbean region and the world, where the five-star resorts to spend a pleasant time on your honeymoon and as well for recreation, also known for its sandy beaches and picturesque views of coconut trees.

  • La Romana: Located on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, you may find the village of Altos de Chavon, an imitation of the villages of the 16th century and one of the best sites to buy traditional souvenirs.

  • Jarabacoa: For those for who are interested in eco-tourism and landscape featuring pine forests, rivers and waterfalls, and here you may find the highest peaks of the Caribbean.
  • Bahia de Las Aguilas: The protected bay is part of the Jaragua National Park and is located on the southwest coast of the Dominican Republic, one of the finest beaches in the Dominican Republic, which stretches miles long, where you may find as well different species of birds.
